The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to cut 15 players by tomorrow, 4 p.m. ET, as does every other NFL team. That's when the 75-man roster limit steps in and the Bucs have to crush the dreams of their first group of players. That's a tough job for The Turk, who has to go to players and tell them their careers are likely over.
The Bucs will have some tough decisions to make, with some good competition at the bottom of the roster. Special teams value will determine a lot of these cuts, and the playing in Saturday night's game would be a good indicator of the 75 players likely to remain on the roster.
We have one cut already, with Aaron Wilson saying the Buccaneers have cut Adam Weber. Which is about the least surprising cut of all time, after the quarterback threw two interceptions on his first two passes of the preseason. More will be coming in today and tomorrow. We'll have them for you as soon as they become clear.
The team is likely to wait until the last minute to get them done, which is what they've done in recent years, too. It doesn't matter much, but the Bucs hope that they can lift a few players off the waiver wire as other teams cut down, which could affect which players they themselves want to release.
