What would an All-NFC South team look like? It's a good question, and the answer would be: filled by Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If there's anything the Bucs do not lack it is high-quality starters. Signing four high-profile free agents and trading for a fifth over the past two seasons will do that.
I thought about making my own list at this point, but I came to the conclusion that I couldn't beat Dave Dameshek's list over at NFL.com. Really, I have nothing to add to or subtract from that list. It seems to be pretty much on-point to me. Dameshek came to the following list, which features a whopping 7 8 Buccaneers:
OFFENSE Quarterback: Drew Brees |
DEFENSE (4-3) Defensive ends:Charles Johnson, Osi Umenyiora |
Really, this looks just about right. I could argue in favor of (maybe) Adrian Clayborn or Da'Quan Bowers over Osi Umenyiora, but that would be a pretty difficult argument to make. Not impossible, mind you: Umenyiora is older and hasn't exactly been a destroyer of worlds the last few years while Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers should be on the rise. In fact, Clayborns 7.5 sacks in 2011 outnumbered Umenyiora's last season. Still, that's hardly convincing.
Other than that, can you find something to complain about? It seems pretty fair to me . What do you think?
