2013 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper and Scouts Inc's second round mocks for the Buccaneers

Defensive line should be a priority.

USA TODAY Sports

The second round of the 2013 NFL draft starts later today. That means we get to do some prognosticating with the aid of ESPN's Mel Kiper and Scouts Inc. Let's start with Kiper.. He has the Buccaneers selecting Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins.

Jenkins is a big defensive tackle who would probably plug in at nose tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has some ability to be disruptive as a pass rusher, but his main strength is eating up blockers against the run. The issue I have with this pick is that he comes at a low value position for the Bucs and may not do enough as a pass rusher to be a huge upgrade, even over Derek Landri and Gary Gibson. After all, it's not the team's run defense that needs fixing.

Scouts Inc also has the Buccaneers selecting a defensive lineman, but theirs makes a little more sense: they're going with defensive end Damontre Moore out of Texas A&M. Moore's a typical effort pass rusher: he has solid but not special overall skills, but he makes a lot of plays due to effort. He'd make for a very good backup, some insurance in case of injury and would push Adrian Clayborn at right defensive end, who's coming back from a torn ACL.
