The Tampa Buccaneers have made their first selection in the 2013 NFL draft, and they've selected cornerback Johnthan Banks out of Mississippi State. Johnthan Banks is a tall, lanky cornerback who excels in press coverage but can struggle in other areas of the game and lacks some speed. Banks will step in as the Bucs' third cornerback behind Darrelle Revis and Eric Wright.
The Buccaneers did not have a first-round pick as they traded it for cornerback Darrelle Revis earlier this week.
The Buccaneers were expected to look at cornerback and tight end as fairly major needs, while they could find possible upgrades along the defensive line and at linebacker as well. The Bucs have six more draft picks left, including the 11th pick of the third round later today.
