Darrelle Revis will visit, undergo physical with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The New York Jets will allow cornerback Darrelle Revis to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and undergo a physical there, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, Revis will fly to Tampa in the "next few hours".

Revis is coming off a torn ACL, which means his health is crucial to any trade deal getting done. Tampa Bay is reportedly the only team in the running for the cornerback's services, as no other team is willing to give up a 2013 first-round pick and give Revis a massive contract in the range of $15 million per year.

The Jets are currently asking for a first-, third- and fifth-round pick for Revis, but the Buccaneers are wary of giving up that much for a cornerback coming off a serious injury in the final year of his contract. Having Revis undergo a thorough physical examination could alleviate concerns about Revis' knee injury, moving trade talks along. It is obviously also a sign that trade talks are very, very serious and that a deal could get done before the draft.

Having Revis undergo a physical examination and visit the Bucs before the trade is done means the deadline now shifts much closer to draft day, and it is even conceivable that a deal gets done while the Bucs are on the clock for their first-round pick. The draft starts on Thursday, April 25 and that should now be considered the real deadline for any trade for Darrelle Revis. With the Jets' insistence on involving Tampa Bay's first-round pick, any trade for Revis becomes much more unlikely once the Bucs make that pick.
