The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will open the season on the road, facing the New York Jets in a game that should get plenty of attention around the NFL. It's already been called the Revis bowl, what with Darrelle Revis likely moving to Tampa in a trade that has been brewing for quite some time.
Other highlights of the schedule include a home game against the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers on December 15, and a revival of the rivalry with the Philadelphia Eagles when they come to town in week six. The Bucs also travel to New England to face Tom Brady and Bill Belichick in week three.
Two nationally televised games
The Buccaneers find themselves back on Monday Night Football! Their week ten matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Tampa will likely determine who may call themselves the best team in Florida. I wouldn't expect the Jaguars to have a say in that matter. Their other nationally televised game will come on October 24 as they face the Carolina Panthers at home on Thursday Night Football.
The Buccaneers have once again been cursed with an early week five bye, the second consecutive reason when their mandatory period of rest comes that early in the season. The Bucs will finish the season at the New Orleans Saints on December 29.
Tampa Bay will face its toughest slate from week seven through week nine, when they travel to Atlanta, face the Panthers at home on a short week and then go on a cross-country trip against the Seattle Seahawks, who have proven to be nigh unbeatable at home.
