Darrelle Revis Trade Rumors: Buccaneers are best and most realistic fit

Rich Barnes-US PRESSWIRE

The Darrelle Revis rumors are in full swing, and it's starting to look like there might be something to it. After today's report that several teams are after Revis, we've seen a few interesting developments. The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons were initially mentioned as interested parties, but the 49ers have denied this (via Albert Breer), and the Atlanta Falcons don't seem interested either (via D. Orlando Ledbetter).

A second development has also taken place: it seems that Tampa is seen as the consensus go to place for Darrelle Revis. That doesn't mean it's going to happen, but tweets like this are certainly intriguing.

So far, it seems Buccaneers fans are overwhelmingly against signing Darrelle Revis. Concerns over cost, character, age and injury reign supreme. The concern over character seems a little overblown to me -- he's always been a very hard worker, who just likes to get paid. And you're not trading for Revis without having the intention to pay him big money. But the other concerns are valid, and if the Bucs are going to trade for Revis, they will have to address them internally.

Still, there is a precedent for a similar trade,. The first big move of Mark Dominik's regime was trading for Kellen Winslow, giving up a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick for a premium player with injury and character concerns. Revis would cost more, but he'd also be a better player than Winslow.
