Tom Crabtree signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed their new tight end. According to Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee, the Buccaneers have signed former Green Bay Packer Tom Crabtree. Crabtree was an undrafted free agent in 2009 out of Miami, Ohio and spent the past four years continually improving as a blocker and receiver. Crabtree's an outstanding special teams player who had a more-or-less breakout season as a receiver last season, recording 203 yards on 8 catches while being stuck behind Jermichael Finley.

As a reliable blocker and a decent receiver, Crabtree could be an intriguing player in Tampa. The Bucs have a need at tight end, with their depth chart consisting of Luke Stocker and a bunch of undrafted free agents. Crabtree doesn't exactly outclass those players, but he does have some upside.

Ultimately, though, Crabtree may be most known for his twitter following. He has nearly 90,000 followers on Twitter, and that may be his main claim to fame, despite his considerable talent as a football player.
