As the Buccaneers work on getting Darrelle Revis to Tampa, the free agent cornerbacks are starting to come off the market. The San Diego Chargers have signed cornerback Derek Cox to a four-year, $20 million deal, per Mike Gehlke of the San Diego Union Tribune.
The Buccaneers were reportedly interested in the talented but injury-prone cornerback, but will have to look elsewhere if they fail to land Revis. One other possibility is off the market too, as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos. The inconsistent young corner likely lacked the physicality the Bucs crave. Sean Smith is now the top cornerback still available.
