UPDATE:
Misread a text: Grimes has not reached a one year deal with the #Falcons
— D. Orlando Ledbetter (@AJCFalcons) March 13, 2013
According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Brent Grimes is returning to Atlanta to torment the Buccaneers once more. The Falcons has three career interceptions off Josh Freeman and appeared to be his personal tormentor at times. The Bucs were reportedly interested in the cornerback, but in their pursuit of Darrelle Revis they appear to have let him get away.
Not that that is a bad thing. Grimes is coming of an Achilles injury, which is massively problematic for any football player, let alone a cornerback, and he turns 30 this year. He's not the kind of cornerback you want to give a long-term contract, although he would be a nice addition to any team if he can recover fully.
With Grimes off the market the Buccaneers are still looking to trade for Darrelle Revis, while they've also been linked with Derek Cox and Sean Smith. Keenan Lewis is also a possibility. Safety Dashon Goldson is flying into town and looks like a lock to be the next Buccaneer -- unless the Bucs and Jets get a deal for Revis done sooner.
