Darrelle Revis Trade Rumors: Buccaneers trying to trade for Revis

Here's some news you weren't expecting. According to Pro Football Talk, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a serious trade partner for Revis. In fact, they appear to be the only serious trade partner for Revis, if Pro Football Talk can be believed.

Does this make sense? On the one hand, Revis would be perfect for the Bucs. When healthy he's the best cornerback in the NFL (yes, better than Richard Sherman), and he would instantly upgrade the league's worst secondary. But the cost would be steep: the Bucs would likely have to give up multiple draft picks, possibly a first-rounder, and then give Revis a massive contract that would preclude them from using that cap space to sign free agents.

In other words, trading for Revis could come at the cost of drafting and signing three or four quality players.

As Pro Football Talk notes, it's likely that the Buccaneers lose interest if free agency starts and they manage to sign a couple of starting cornerbacks quickly. That means the trade would have to get done today -- and preferably before the start of free agency at 4 p.m. EST. Stay tuned for more news as it develops.
