Joel Glazer makes positive comments on Greg Schiano

We have a comment from one of the owners on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach.

Rich Schultz

One of the men who will be deciding Greg Schiano's fate come January made a couple of vague but positive statements on Greg Schiano to Tampa Tribune writer Roy Cummings. Co-chairman Joel Glazer apparently likes what he's seen the past three weeks.

Those comments are positive, but they're still far removed from giving Greg Schiano the green light to return next season. With a 3-8 record, that would be a little foolish. There's no denying the fact that the Bucs have played much better football over the past four weeks, though -- ever since Greg Schiano apparently loosed the reins a little in the locker room.

The question is now whether Schiano's players can keep it up and win a few more games for their coach (and themselves). Three wins won't do it come January, but if the Bucs end the season with a 5-3 or 6-2 streak, the Glazers may keep Schiano. Whether that means his assistants are safe is another question entirely, with defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan's seat being particularly scorching.

Still, with every win the odds of Schiano returning increase a little. And a few positive comments by a Glazer don't hurt, either.
