Mason Foster Injury: Buccaneers linebacker leaves Falcons game with concussions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost Mason Foster to a concussion.

Al Messerschmidt

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that middle linebacker Mason Foster suffered a concussion in the second quarter against the Atlanta Falcons after a collision with Dashon Goldson. Foster will not return, as concussed players are not allowed to return to play, while his status for future games will depend on whether or not he can pass concussion tests.

Adam Hayward replaced Mason Foster at middle linebacker. Hayward is the team's most veteran linebacker who should have no problem executing in this defense, although he's not as physically impressive as Mason Foster.

The Bucs are now beating the Falcons 31-6, in part due to Mason Foster's early efforts. Foster racked up an impressive pick six (his second of the season) early in the game, and helped the Bucs take a massive lead on the Atlanta Falcons. The resurgent Buccaneers look like a different team these past three weeks after an 0-8 start to the season.
