The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially placed Michael James on injured reserve, signing running back Michael Hill to replace him.

Michael Hill is the latest running back signed to the Bucs' roster, by now the seventh running back on the team's roster this season. Hill was an undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western this year who spent time with the San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers this season.

Hill maanged a whopping 3,473 yards and 24 touchdowns in two seasons at Missouri Western. The Buccaneers say his 2,168 rushing yards last year led the nation.

Hill will be the team's third running back behind Brian Leonard and Bobby Rainey, who are likely to split the bulk of the carries going forward. Leonard will be the team's third-down back.

The Bucs have lost Doug Martin and Michael James as the lead running backs this year, while Jeff Demps and Michael Smith have also seen their seasons end due to injury. The team's running game has, not surprisingly, struggled this year, but the team managed to get things rolling with 345 rushing yards over the past two games after inserting Jamon Meredith at left guard and tweaking the scheme.
