UPDATE: The Bucs are calling James' injury an ankle injury and he is now out for the game.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to cart running back Mike James off the field on their opening drive of the game with what appeared to be a serious left leg injury. James collapsed on the ground while walking back to the rookie and was writhing in pain on the ground. The Bucs had to bring out the cart to get him out of there, which almost certainly means it's a serious injury.
Mike James had rushed for 41 yards on just five carries in the game before suffering the injury. James was the Bucs' top running back after Doug Martin was lost for the year with a shoulder injury. With James out, Brian Leonard is likely to get the majority of the team's carries, while Bobby Rainey should get a look as well. Leonard has been the team's third-down back this year, and we can expect him to continue in that role at least.
The Bucs lead the Dolphins 7-0 in the first quarter, but will have to find a way to keep their running game going without James.
