Josh Freeman chooses Vikings, per Ian Rapaport

NFL media insider Ian Rapaport reports that the Minnesota Vikings have won the Josh Freeman sweepstakes. Freeman supposedly had up to ten teams interested in acquiring his services, including Oakland, Buffalo, Arizona and of course Minnesota. Not too bad for a guy that had zero trade value a week ago.

Freeman will join All pro running back Adrian Peterson, a talented receiving corp and a real tight end in Kyle Rudolph in Minnesota. He will likely compete with Matt Cassel to take over the starting job for the remainder of the season for the underwhelming Christian Ponder, who is out with broken ribs for another few weeks. Although Ponder will be back eventually, he should probably just go ahead and get acquainted with that clipboard.

Freeman will still be paid the entirety of his Bucs' salary, as well as the $3 million from the Vikings.

And so it ends. Freeman ends up about as far away from Florida as he can get, and at least fans will be spared having to watch him compete against the Bucs this season.

Bucs Nation would like to wish Mr. Freeman the best of luck. I doubt as fans we'll ever know exactly what happened this offseason, but we're certainly thankful for the good times, although they were too few and far between. Hopefully he can put it together and be a successful quarterback for a team one day.
