Greg Schiano tells Buccaneers players they are stuck with him

When will Greg Schiano be fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? It seems he's likely to stick to the end of the season.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Greg Schiano and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to be a marriage made in hell, but one the Glazers would like to extend just a little bit before hitting the inevitable divorce button. Jay Glazer (reporter, not one of the owners) of Fox Sports reported that Greg Schiano told the players they were "stuck with him", via Pro Football Talk. Apparently Schiano met with the Glazers (the owners, not the reporter) after Thursday night's embarrassing loss to the Carolina Panthers, and they presumably told him that he was going to stick around for at least a little longer.

The Glazers have never fired a head coach before the end of the season, so there's some reason to believe Schiano will stick around until the end of the year. It's hard to believe that he could keep his job beyond this season barring a massive winning streak, however. At this point it's a question of "when" and not "if".

We'll see whether Schiano will stick after next week's game, when the Bucs travel to Seattle for what almost certainly will be a loss, and an embarrassing one at that. The Seahawks haven't lost a home game since week 16 of 2011 and the Bucs don't appear to be in the kind of form to beat a dominant 6-1 team on the road. Following that, the Bucs will host the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. If Schiano hasn't turned around the team by then, the biggest national television audience will get to see Tampa Bay's embarrassment.

At some point, enough should be enough. Somehow the Glazers haven't reached that point yet.
