Doug Martin Injury: Buccaneers running back out "two weeks to two months" with shoulder injury

It's still not clear how many games Doug Martin will miss this year.

Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reports that Doug Martin could be out "two weeks to two months". That fits with yesterday's report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who suggested that Doug Martin could return to the field in two weeks if all went well, but that the Bucs would have to shut him down if he had a setback. We're effectively in wait and see mode, though he certainly won't play against the Seattle Seahawks next week.

If Doug Martin can't return this season, Mike James will get the bulk of the carries. The sixth-round rookie managed 10 rushes for 39 yards against the Carolina Panthers in a lopsided game that forced the Bucs to abandon the run early. He also added four catches for 25 yards. The other running backs combined to see just one carry.

Doug Martin wasn't having a great year, rushing for just 3.6 yards per carry, a full yard per carry less than last season so the offense won't necessarily be worse without him -- but the offense has been pretty disastrous regardless of Martin's presence.
