The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have suffered a potentially disastrous injury: Doug Martin had to go off the field with a shoulder injury after landing awkwardly on an incomplete pass. He was escorted to the locker room, according to 620WDAE. His return is questionable.
Martin was hit as he tried to make the catch close to the goal-line, but the hit appeared to be clean. Martin was having a pretty good game with 11 carries for 47 yards against the Falcons, but it wasn't helping the Buccaneers win as they're trailing 24-10. Sixth-round rookie Mike James will likely carry the load with Doug Martin out. The Bucs generally want to be a run-heavy offense but they have struggled to create holes for their Pro Bowl running back this year, who was running for 3.5 yards per carry coming into the game.
With Mike Glennon leading the offense the Bucs do appear to be a little more consistent in the passing game, which would probably help Mike James produce. The Bucs tend to steer away from running back committees, so you can expect James to carry the load as long as Martin is out.
