The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have (finally?) placed undrafted rookie cornerback Rashaan Melvin on injured reserve. The rookie had a promising offseason but injuries have prevented from getting on the field so far, and he has 0 snaps on the season as a result.
With Melvin on injured reserve, the Bucs have four healthy cornerbacks left: Darrelle Revis, Johnthan Banks, Leonard Johnson and undrafted rookie Deveron Carr. Michael Adams has been injured for a month now, and it's not clear when he'll return. Danny Gorrer was placed on injured reserve and designated for return, which means he'll be able to come back in two weeks. Despite the lack of depth, the Bucs defense has held up fairly well.
Hopefully Melvin can come back next season and make an impact during the offseason again. The length cornerback looked like he had some potential as a physical, press-man cornerback but never got the chance to show off his skills in the regular season.
