Eagles vs. Buccaneers Final Score: Tampa Bay falls to 0-5 after 31-20 loss

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fall to 0-5 after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles by 11 points after yet another late second half collapse.

Al Messerschmidt

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played a good half of football before collapsing under the pressure of the Eagles' up-tempo offense. With Mike Glennon looking decent, the Bucs' defense could not keep up with the Eagles' second-half adjustments leading Philadelphia to 17 points in the final two quarters.

Despite an opening drive touchdown, the Eagles offense struggled to get anything done in the first half. The Bucs defense regularly put them in third-and-long situations and Nick Foles could not convert. Aside from one touchdown drive in the second quarter, the Tampa Bay defense held admirably.

That changed quickly in the second half, after Chip Kelly decided to start targeting the weak parts of the Tampa Bay defense, and it yielded quick results. Riley Cooper managed a deep touchdown in the third quarter and set up DeSean Jackson's second touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Bucs again made Nick Foles look like Peyton Manning, as he ended the day completing 22 of 31 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns.

Mike Glennon looked better than he did in his debut game against Arizona, going 26 of 43 for 273 yards, two touchdowns and one interception . A great first quarter touchdown pass and a solid touchdown drive in the second quarter were offset by awful deep balls and a second-half interception, although that looked to be at least partly on Tiquan Underwood. Glennon was solid on third down, finding Tim Wright repeatedly for big first downs. The tight end ended the game with 7 catches for 91 yards. Overall, though, it wasn't good enough and Glennon got worse as the game went on.

With the Eagles up 28-20 in the fourth quarter they started to run out the clock, and the Buccaneers usually stout run defense started to struggle against Philadelphia's read-option attack. That may have been due to the high tempo the Philadelphia offense used throughout the game. LeSean McCoy managed to get 116 yards on 25 carries in the game, and an embarrassing offside penalty on fourth and inches sealed the game for the Eagles.

With that, the Buccaneers fall to 0-5 on the year and they have now lost ten of their last eleven regular season games. Their last win came in the final game of last season, when the Falcons had little to play for. Greg Schiano's seat is getting hotter by the week, and it remains to be seen how long he can hang on.

What's next?

The Buccaneers travel to Atlanta to take on the 1-4 Falcons.

Injuries

Jeff Demps suffered a groin injury in the third quarter and did not return.

Jeremy Zuttah was injured on the final drive of the game with what appeared to be a groin injury and did not return.
