Buccaneers - Redskins Inactives: Pierre Garcon, E.J. Biggers in, Meriweather Out

Pierre Garcon and E.J. Biggers will play, while Brandon Meriweather is out. What else is in the cards for the active players this week?

The big news is in: wide receiver Pierre Garcon is active for the Washington Redskins today, giving them a big play threat to beat down a Buccaneers secondary that has struggled to contain receivers so far this year. But the Bucs themselves will be able to pick on a weak secondary that just got a little weaker, as safety Brandon Meriweather injured his knee in a pre-game warmup, taking him out for at least this game. Aldrick Robinson was another pre-game casualty, and the productive slot receiver won't be around to harass the Bucs' cornerbacks either.

On the other side, cornerback E.J. Biggers will get his first game action this season. The former starter and nickel cornerback will play some, but it's not clear how big a role he will play on defense. He should at least be better than Leonard Johnson and Brandon McDonald, who saw a lot of playing time the past weeks.

With Biggers active, Myron Lewis moves back to the inactive list. Fifth and sixth-round picks Najee Goode and Keith Tandy remain inactive, as they've only been relevant on special teams. One surprise inactive is Jeremy Trueblood, who has gone from being a starter to not even playing in the span of two weeks. His time in Tampa is swiftly coming to an end.

Daniel Te'o-Nesheim will be the replacement for defensive end Adrian Clayborn, who is out for the season. New pickup Jeff Charleston is active, so he could see some playing time at the position along with George Johnson.
