Once promising guard Arron Sears cannot care for himself anymore

Arron Sears' story is one of sadness. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive guard was once a very talented player, and coupled with Davin Joseph looked to be an important building block for the Bucs' future offense. That was back in 2007, when he was selected in the second round of the NFL draft. Flash forward two years, and Arron Sears leaves the team due to mental issues. Those problems continue to worsen over the years, as he ends up arrested and held for his own protection at one point. And now, things have gotten even worse. Per the Tampa Tribune:

"Sears has almost total loss of function, is unable to care for himself and cannot take (care) of his day-to-day activities. Further, Arron Sears has extreme displays of temper and anger with the appurtenant risk of causing harm to himself and others."

It's a sad story, one the family has tied to a history of concussions and traumatic hits to the head, which has led them to sue the NFL and the Buccaneers specifically. Whether there's any merit to that claim remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Arron Sears is not having a good life.
