Friday College Football Open Thread

Bowl season continues! The most intriguing game today is Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech, as Greg Schiano should have a lot of inside information on most of the players in that game. The Bucs could easily draft a few under-the-radar players from either Rutgers or Virginia Tech.

Mocking the Draft has all the watch and draft notes on these games.

Independence Bowl, 2 p.m. ET, ESPN
Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe

Not much to see here. The guys over at Mocking the Draft note that Ohio's guard Eric Herman has the best chance to get drafted, while Louisiana-Monroe's wide receiver Brent Leonard and Ohio cornerback Travis Carrie could sneak in late as well, and they battle each other today.

Russell Athletic Bowl, 5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech

Lots more to watch here. Rutgers linebacker Khaseem Greene could be a first-rounder as a former safety and would be a prototypical weak side linebacker. Inside linebacker Steve Heauharnais could come off the board early, too, and cornerback Logan Ryan is another potential Rutgers first-rounder. The latter would, of course, be a logical fit for the Bucs.

On the other side, Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas has a lot of talent but has been up and down this year. The Hokies have some talent on defense with linebackers Bruce Taylor and Jack Tyler, while defensive end James Gayle is their best pass rusher.

Meineke Car Bowl, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN
Minnesota vs. Texas Tech

Nothing to see here, according to Mocking the Draft, who only notes Texas Tech tackle LaAdrian Waddle as worth watching.
