On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers must do what they can to salvage their season. They have lost three straight games, in increasingly depression fashion. A close loss to the Atlanta Falcons, a not-so-close loss to the Denver Broncos and then a very close lose to the absolutely horrific Philadelphia Eagles. Had the Bucs won any of those games, they would have had a good chance at making the playoffs. Instead, they are now grasping at straws.
The Buccaneers have squandered their best chances at the playoffs, but they are not entirely without hope. There is still a chance, but then they cannot afford another loss.
Do these Bucs ultimately belong in the playoffs? They have the talent and quality to beat any team on any day -- and they have holes on their team that can lead them to losses against any team on any day. If they do make it to the playoffs, they certainly could do some damage -- but it would not be an easy task.
Still, even a wild card round playoff loss would be more than Tampa Bay fans have seen since 2008, when they lost to eventual Super Bowl champions in their own home. The Bucs haven't won a playoff game since 2003, and it would be nice if they could finally get over that hump. It's unlikely, but they do have a chance. A win tomorrow would be a necessity.
