The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed outside linebacker Quincy Black on injured reserve, after the veteran suffered what appeared to be a neck injury against the San Diego Chargers. Black should be fine in the long term, but he has issues with his left arm as a result of the injury. It's not clear whether Black will be cleared to play football before next season.
Given Black's expensive contract and lackluster production, this could very well be Black's final season with the Buccaneers. Black's contract could be re-negotiated, but the Bucs could cut him next offseason with no financial or cap consequences.
It's not clear who the Bucs will add to the roster to take Black's place. Black has played exclusively on running downs and was replaced by Adam Hayward last game. Dekoda Watson could play in his spot as well.
