Tampa Bay Buccaneers 53-man Roster Cuts - Ahmad Black, Ed Gant among casualties

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have just released their final roster cuts. There are a few surprises in there, but no really big ones. Ahmad Black may be the biggest name among all cuts, but he never had a chance as he has only played a couple of downs during the preseason. Safety Devin Holland did make the team over Black, although I expect Holland to lose out on his roster spot when the Bucs bring in players over the next few days.

Surprisingly, the Bucs cut three tight ends in Daniel Hardy, Nathan Overbay and Ryan Purvis, keeping just two. They also kept a whopping seven cornerbacks, refusing to cut one of Elbert Mack, D.J. Johnson or Anthony Gaitor. I would expect the Bucs to try to bring in a tight end or two off waivers or as a free agent.

Daniel Hardy and Ahmad Black were the only draft picks the Bucs cut, as all six other draft picks did make the roster.

In addition, the Bucs placed Andrew Economos on the PUP list, which means that he won't be able to play until week 6 at the earliest. Christian Yount will handle longsnapping duties during his absence.
