And another Buccaneer has gotten into off-field trouble: Alex Magee was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving with an expired tag. This is Magee's first public run-in with the law and the first time he has publicly been busted for recreational drugs. If this is indeed the first time in his NFL career he has been caught, he will not be suspended by the NFL. Otherwise he'll be suspended for four games for violating the substance abuse policy. While there is currently no CBA and the players are locked out, the NFL has made it clear that they want to punish any off-field incidents occurring during the lockout anyway. Whether or not they will be allowed to do so remains to be seen.
Alex Magee was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. The Purdue defensive end was then traded in October 2010 for a swap of fifth- and sixth-round draft picks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Magee got on the field regularly at the end of the year and managed to make a small impact as a left defensive end. Magee was likely to be in the running for a backup spot at defensive end, but it's possible the Bucs will now cut ties with him to set an example.
UPDATE: Bucstats rightly points out that Magee wasn't arrested, just ticketed.
