Over the coming month I'll be counting down the top 10 draft busts and top 10 draft picks in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history. I'm going to start with the busts, and then go through the picks. Get through the agony quickly, because the Buccaneers have a lot of draft busts in their history. In part because of the many top-10 picks they gathered, in part because they were really poor drafters for a very long time. Bud Light wants you to know all this stuff apparently, but they do have a draft competition with a $10,000,000 main prize, so that could be worth your time. Hit the jump below for details.
On to the 10th biggest draft bust in Bucs history: CB Rod Jones. A casual glance at his stats would make Rod Jones seem like at least a passable player. He managed to stay in the NFL for 11 years, starting 107 games. Just 4 of those seasons were spent with the Bucs, but 44 starts and 13 more games as a third cornerback aren't horrible, right? Well, there's a reason his nickname was "Toast" - he'd get beat up and down the field. Rod Jones was the Sabby Piscitelli of his day, hurting the team by being on the field at all. He managed a grand total of 4 interceptions in 4 years with the Bucs, and another 6 in his 7 years with the Bengals. The only reason he isn't higher on this list? He was selected 25th overall, and the Bucs have picked higher a lot. Check back tomorrow for the #9 worst Bucs draft pick of all time.
