Bucs 20, Chiefs 15: What They're Saying

Lots of strong reaction to last night's game.

John Romano discusses the latest on Josh Freeman's thumb injury and suggests the Bucs consider looking at acquiring a veteran QB, namely Jeff Garcia.  Heh.

Joe Smith talks about the up-and-down play of the defense and has some love for the second-team defense, who managed to stop the bleeding in the first half.

Joe Henderson notes that, even if he is able to go by Week 1, Josh Freeman's missed time the remainder of the preseason will be a "major blow".

Rick Stroud shares concern about Freeman's limited playing time, saying he could be rusty when he comes back, but calls Josh Johnson's performance on Saturday "encouraging".

Anwar Richardson focuses on the running back competition and Ward's unfulfilled promise of a great game; he also notes that Clifton Smith sat out the game due to gout.

Ira Kaufman recognizes the solid play from the young Buccaneer QBs and receivers Saturday night.

Conversely, Stephen Holder says he learned little from the WR corps Saturday night and notes the dropoff in production after Williams and Stroughter.

The Pewter Report compares Freeman's injury to Brett Favre's thumb injury in 1999 and includes some quotes from Favre about how the thumb wouldn't heal due to constant contact.

Discuss.
