A few weeks ago I posted the Lee Roy Selmon UW commercial, but this one is even more special, as Ricky Bell was lost at such an early age. He was our first 1,000 yard rusher, and he punished defenses in 1979 to the tune of 1263 yards. He added another 142 in a playoff game vs Philadelphia.
Ricky Bell was never the same again, as it was discovered in 1983 he had a degenerative muscular disease. He died in 1984. He was one of the first ever Tampa Bay Buccaneers sports heroes.
