Well here it is, the final game of the season. It seems like it just started, we waited so long that its unthinkable another offseason is a day away.
Some of us had hope we could have a competative season. Some of us knew there was no way the Bucs could win more than 3 or 4 games. Turns out they were right, but no one could have predicted how the season went down.
That a poor hire of an offensive coordinator could ripple into this..
That a poorer choice to change the defense could have just killed the first 3/4 of the season. The Bucs are 30th is rushing defense, because most of the season they passed over the Bucs secondary for early first half touchdowns to take a 2 score lead, then sat on the ball the rest of the way. Wasn't it obvious in the preseason when the Jaguars threw a bomb for a TD on the first play of the game?
But then out of nowhere, hope came. Josh Freeman performed well, and the Bucs won in Orange uniforms no less. And as fast as he starred, the rookie QB faltered and looked, well, like a rookie QB.
Then came renewed hope again, as the Bucs defense went back to the Tampa Two, played respectable each game, and the Bucs found their old recipe for winning; good defense and good running.
- Bucs had given up 34 TDS in the first ten games. They have given up only 8 in the last 5 games.
- From 29.4 Points per game, that is now down to 17.2 since the change at Defense.
- Josh Freeman has led his team from behind 4 times since starting, and he is 3-5 as a Bucs Starting QB.
- Which means- The Bucs are 3-5 in their last 8 games, and lost two games in last second losses.
The Bucs ran the ball even when down, and beat the last two opponents, on the road. With a win today over Atlanta, the Bucs can finish off the season on a 3 game winning streak.
Enjoy the program, the game, and an offseason with plenty of stuff to keep you busy!
So we can do it all over again!
