Rather than just spit my own personal venom about the other teams within the NFC South and their current standing, I thought I would allow our NFC South Bloggers who cover their respective teams let you know how their weekend's match-up went:
Canal Street Chronicles:
The Saints lost yet another heartbreaker for the second week in a row, this time to the Denver Broncos. After falling behind early 21-3, the Saints rallied back thanks to great performances by Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Robert Meachem, Jeremy Shockey and Lance Moore. Down by 2 points with a few minutes remaining in the game, Martin Gramatica missed a 43 yard go ahead field goal as the Saints wound up losing in this high scoring shootout.
Cat Scratch Reader:
Any time the Panthers lose it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I want to forget about it as much as possible. This loss to the Vikings is no exception though I find myself thinking it could be a lot worse. You really didn't think the Panthers would go 16-0 did you? Of course not. The problem is that the Vikings exposed the Panthers weaknesses for all the league, and their future opponents to see. The Panther pass rush lacks teeth when it desperately needs a sack. The offensive line has trouble picking up blitzes when forced into obvious passing situations. QB Jake Delhomme can certainly have a bad day and look more like a journeyman than a Pro Bowl QB.
The Falcoholic:
The Falcons gashed, slashed, smashed and brutalized the Chiefs on Sunday. Led by three touchdowns from Michael Turner and a great day from Roddy White, the Falcons simply ran over the Chiefs. Chris Houston's touchdown return on an interception made this one a blowout, as did stout defense against an absolutely horrendous offense. Off a poor game against the Bucs, the Falcons got back on the rails and no longer look like the worst team in the NFL.
How about the Falcons? Dave, you gotta love seeing your team bounce back, forget it was against the Chiefs, that was a must win game and your boys knocked it out of the park. I can't help but chuckle my ass off when i read that Martin Gramatica missed a game winning field goal, granted it was from 43 yards out. Sorry Dave, thats hilarious. Jaxon you ready to let Julius Peppers hit the free agent market? The Panthers pass rush lacks teeth? Yikes.. It's nice to see Delhomme come back to earth a bit...
