Mike Alstott tribute Sunday at Halftime against the Seattle Seahawks

If you didn’t get a chance to see Mike Alstott last week at Circuit City, you have a Nationally Televised chance this Sunday during the Buccaneers-Seahawks game. The Buccaneers will honor the former full back at halftime. Fans attending the game will receive a Mike Alstott commemorative gate giveaway (?) and will enjoy a flyover to start the game.

There’s been a murmur that the Bucs will retire Alstott’s jersey number this Sunday, to that I say: ‘Don’t hold your breath’. Lee Roy Selmon is the only Buccaneer to have his jersey number retired and although Alstott is a MEGA fan favorite, I just don’t see it happening. Not this Sunday any way. It should definitely happen in the future though for the six-time Pro-Bowler and Buccaneers touchdown record holder.

On a side note, John Madden, who regularly calls NBC Sunday Night football games will sit out this weekend. The reason is a need for a day off, but forget the reasoning, we now have to deal with the possibility of Cris Collinsworth filling in for Madden, as if it wasn’t torture enough that he’s taken the place of John in the Madden Video Game series, he now will fill-in in real life, argh… Stab me in the eardrums…
