Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin has been resigned to what is believed to be a Two-Year Deal at nearly $2 Million a Season. Thank you Bruce Allen!!!
FREE AGENCY BEGINS FEBRUARY 29th... The Bucs FA's consist of the following:
Unrestricted Free Agents - are players without a team. They have either been released from their club, had the term of their contract expire without a renewal, or were not chosen in league's draft of amateur players. These players, generally speaking, are free to entertain offers from all other teams and to decide with whom to sign a new contract. - Wikipedia.com
FB Mike Alstott - He's talked about retirement this off-season and he should for health's sake. He's got a Superbowl Ring. It's time to hang 'em up Mike. You are adorned by Bucs Fans around the globe!!
TE Anthony Becht - Are you going to lose sleep if he signs some where else? Yeah me neither
RB Michael Bennett - I didnt see enough of him to even register his style of play in my mind. I'd use him to replace Pittman
CB Sammy Davis - Played admirably when called to the field, look to resign him
TE Keith Heinrich - Keith who? Replace him in the Draft
WR Mark Jones - Was starting to play well before he got hurt. Resign him.
C Matt Lehr - needed for depth, lacked focus at times
RB Michael Pittman - I know he'll be resigned, but I'd like to see some new blood get a chance. GIVE ASKEW the BALL! or Bennett or Kenneth Darby
TE Jerramy Stevens - Aside from one clutch Touchdown Catch, his season was pretty mediocre. Allen will bring him back (think David Boston)
LB Jeremiah Trotter - We barely knew thee, bring him back as an assistant..
C John Wade - We could have a new Center next season, I'm not sure that would be such a bad thing
Restricted Free Agents - those whose contracts have expired. They have received qualifying offers from their old clubs and are free to negotiate with any club. If a player accepts an offer from a new club, the old club will have the right to match the offer and retain the player. If the old club elects not to match the offer, it may receive draft-choice compensation depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to the player - Wikipedia.com
LB Antoine Cash - Injuries limited his season drastically so its hard to say what we have here
DT Jovan Haye - Allen should attempt to lock Haye up for at least another 3-4 years. The guy has an uncanny motor, enthusiasm, and ability
SS Kalvin Pearson - He contributed to a #1 Pass Defense, he should be brought back
Exclusive Rights Free Agents - Such a player has no more than two accrued seasons in the NFL and may only sign with his prior team, provided, of course, that the team extends a minimum qualifying offer to the player. - AskTheCommish.com
LS Andrew Economos - I graduated from FSU with a degree in Economics, so this guy will always have a soft spot in my roster selections. Bring him back
LT Donald Penn - Probably one of the most improved and surprising players of the season. He could push a gimpy Petitgout for playing time
KR Micheal Spurlock - Breaking the biggest dry spell in the NFL buys you another season doesnt it? Heck Yeah!
FB Byron Storer - I'll keep saying it, feed B.J. Askew the ball. Please and Thank You.
WR Paris Warren - He lit up the field in Pre-Season, only to be lost in the final game before the start of the regular season. I hope the guy can bounce back. He deserves it.
DE Greg White - Like Jovan Haye, this big monster should be given an extension. He, Haye, and Adams should be written in cement to start on the line.
Free Agent Coaches
Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin - UNSIGNED - Should be given a KEY to the city and of course an extension. The fact that he hasnt bolted to coach with his son is a good sign he'll be returning. How he hasnt been signed already is beyond me.
Quarterbacks Coach Paul Hackett - UNSIGNED - You know he didnt have to work as hard this season, with Jeff Garcia running the Offense. Is the lack of development in his crew of back-ups his fault or a lack of abilities fault? hmm
Senior Asst./Offensive Line Aaron Kromer - UNSIGNED - With Muir back, this signing is a little insignificant
Asst. Defensive Backs Coach Jimmy Lake - Signed with the Detroit Lions - Come on Marinelli, quit cherry picking
Asst. Head Coach/Running Backs Coach Art Valero - Signed with the St. Louis Rams - only time will tell if he'll truly be missed. I doubt he truly has a hand in our RB's success all in all.
Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Bill Muir - SIGNED - up until this season, the line has really been a sore sight for this organization. Another year of experience should work wonders for his unit.
Special Teams Coordinator Richard Bisaccia - SIGNED - It wasnt pure luck that helped the Bucs have one of the leagues best Special Teams units (defensively)
Wide Receives Coach Richard Mann - SIGNED - I havent seen any progression from Maurice Stovall or Michael Clayton, but again that comes down to player ability
