Buccaneers - Falcons Inactives: Arrelious Benn, Brent Grimes Out

TAMPA FL - DECEMBER 05: Receiver Arrelious Benn #17 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dives for the endzone as defensive back Brent Grimes #20 of the Atlanta Falcons pushes him out of bounds during the game at Raymond James Stadium on December 5 2010 in Tampa Florida. (Photo by J. Meric/Getty Images)

The inactives for the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons are in. For the Bucs, Arrelious Benn and Jeremy Trueblood are the most significant inactives. Both are out with injury. James Lee will reportedly get the start in Trueblood's place, while Dezmon Briscoe should start for Benn. The Bucs will lack speed on offense with Benn out, but James Lee (or Demar Dotson, who should get some playing time too) should do better in pass protection than Jeremy Trueblood.

Interestingly the entire Bucs defensive line is actually active, except for fourth-stringer Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, despite many defensive linemen populating the injury report. In addition, Anthony Gaitor will not feature in today's game which will give Myron Lewis a final chance to show that he really does belong on an NFL roster.

For the Falcons, Brent Grimes is the most important inactive. The cornerback has been a plague for Josh Freeman in the past, but won't factor in today's game.

Full Inactives:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: QB Rudy Carpenter, WR Arrelious Benn, WR Sammie Stroughter, CB Anthony Gaitor, DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, T Jeremy Trueblood, G Derek Hardman.

Atlanta Falcons: QB John Parker Wilson, CB Brent Grimes, LB Stephen Nicholas, C Brett Romberg, OL Kirk Chambers, WR Kerry Meier, DE Cliff Matthews

Buccaneers - Falcons Injury Report: Trueblood Out, Defensive Line Still Injured

TAMPA, FL - SEPTEMBER 25: Josh Freeman #5 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers talks to teammates before playing against the Atlanta Falcons at Raymond James Stadium on September 25, 2011 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

As has been the case all year, the Bucs' defensive line is heavily injured. DE Michael Bennett, DT Albert Haynesworth and DT Brian Price are all listed as Questionable. Of those players, only In addition, DE Adrian Clayborn and DT Roy Miller are listed as Probable. Once again the Bucs will face a run-heavy team without having their already weakened defensive line at full strength. That will be so much fun.

In addition, Jeremy Trueblood has been ruled out with a concussion. James Lee will get the start in his place per Stephen Holder, while Demar Dotson will see some playing time as well. That's a little odd as James Lee has been inactive for most of the season, while Dotson has been the extra lineman/blocking tight end.

For the Falcons, Ray Edwards and Brent Grimes are the most significant injured players. Both are listed as Questionable, and Edwards did not participate in practice. Missing either of those players would hurt the Falcons defense, though Edwards has not added much as a pass rusher this season. Brent Grimes is their best cornerback, however, and without him the Falcons could struggle to stop the Bucs' wide receivers. Except that hasn't proven to be very hard recently.

Buccaneers - Panthers Inactives: Brian Price, Albert Haynesworth Out

The inactives are in, and it seems that DT Brian Price and LB Adam Hayward are the most significant inactives for the Bucs. The Bucs don't have a lot of quality at defensive tackle as it is, and Brian Price and Albert Haynesworth at least provided a disruptive presence. The good news is that Arrelious Benn makes his return, adding some speed to the Bucs' offense, and none of the other front seven players are injured. Interestingly, S Ahmad Black is once again active over Larry Asante who seems to have fallen out of favor.

For the Panthers, CB Captain Munnerlyn was placed on injured reserve, and S Charles Godfrey is inactive with an injury. That really hurts their secondary, which has been pretty poor all year anyway. Other than that, there are no significant inactives for either team.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DT Brian Price, LB Albert Haynesworth, QB Rudy Carpenter, S Larry Asante, DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, G Derek Hardman, T James Lee

Carolina Panthers: S Charles Godfrey, QB Jimmy Clausen, K Adi Kunalic, WR Seji Ajirotutu, LB Omar Gaither, C Jeff Byers, DE Eric Norwood

Buccaneers - Panthers Injury Report: Five Front-Seven Bucs Questionable, Captain Munnerlyn Out

Run defense? Nope.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having some injury issues with their front seven, as if they didn't have enough trouble stopping the run when healthy. DT Albert Haynesworth, DE Michael Bennett, LB Geno Hayes and DT Brian Price are all starters who are listed as Questionable with on the injury report with various ailments. In addition, backup LB Adam Hayward is also listed as Questionable and backup DT Roy Miller is listed as probable.

Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are having some extra injury problems on defense, outside of the numerous starters they've placed on injured reserve throughout the season. CB Captain Munnerlyn has been ruled out for the game, which would leave them with Chris Gamble and a whole list of nothing at cornerback. In addition, starting safety Charles Godfery is listed as Doubtful.

Of course, the Bucs haven't been able to take advantage of any weaknesses in secondaries recently, so this shouldn't really be a problem for the Panthers.

Hit the jump for the full report.

Cowboys - Buccaneers Injury Report: Arrelious Benn Out, Demarcus Ware Questionable

JACKSONVILLE, FL - DECEMBER 11: Arrelious Benn #17 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers runs for yardage during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field on December 11, 2011 in Jacksonville, Florida. (Photo by Sam Greenwood/Getty Images)

Both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys have a full injury report, but the Bucs have

For the Bucs, the most significant injury is Arrelious Benn's concussion, which rules him out for Saturday's game. Without Benn the Bucs lack speed at wide receiver, but Dezmon Briscoe is at least a capable replacement for the second-year receiver. In addition, the Bucs listed DE Michael Bennett, WR Sammie Stroughter and DT Brian Price as Questionable.

Missing Stroughter wouldn't hurt Tampa Bay much, but without Brian Price and Michael Bennett the Bucs would struggle to stop the run. If Price can't go, Roy Miller and Frank Okam will fill in for him, while Da'Quan Bowers will again see extended playing time if Bennett is not available. There is some good news: Aqib Talib is ready to go on Saturday, and the Bucs will certainly need him to stop WR Dez Bryant.

For the Cowboys, four starters are listed as questionable: C Phil Costa, G Kyle Kosier, CB Mike Jenkins and LB Demarcus Ware. Besides those four players, Laurent Robinson is also Questionable to play on Saturday. Missing those players would seriously hurt the Cowboys, as their already weak secondary would be hurt further with Jenkins' absence while Jay Ratliff would be the only real source of pass rush with Ware out. Missing two starters on the interior offensive line could allow Albert Haynesworth to run free as well.

Buccaneers - Jaguars Injury Report: Aqib Talib Out, Josh Freeman Questionable

Josh Freeman did make some throws in practice the past two days, reportedly with some zip, but he's still listed as Questionable on the official injury report with limited participation in practice. It would be a surprise if the third-year quarterback doesn't start on Sunday, but if he doesn't Josh Johnson will get his second consecutive start.

Meanwhile, the Bucs have bigger worries: Aqib Talib has been ruled out and backup S Larry Asante, who has been getting a but of playing time in rotations, is Doubtful, while DT Albert Haynesworth is also Questionable. Missing Aqib Talib would normally be a big blow for the Bucs, but the Jacksonville Jaguars don't have the quality wideout talent to really make this a problem. Haynesworth presence usually gives the Bucs some disruption inside, and if he can't go they would have no one who could really fill that role, although Haynesworth hasn't made a big impact himself.

For the Jaguars, CB T.J. Heath, DE Aaron Kampman and DE Matt Roth are all listed as Out, which really hurts their defense. In addition they could miss S Dwight Lowery with a shoulder injury, further limiting their already depleted secondary. The Jaguars defense is pretty good when healthy, but they've been hit hard by injuries and not much is left of that stout unit.

Bucs - Panthers Injury Report: Josh Freeman Questionable, Michael Bennett Out

NASHVILLE, TN - NOVEMBER 27: William Hayes #95 of the Tennessee Titans leaps to block a pass by Josh Freeman #5 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during play at LP Field on November 27, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans won 23-17. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images)

We have some good news and some bad news on Josh Freeman's injury. The good news is he actually threw a few balls today, though they were described as "soft balls" and it wasn't a heavy workload. The bad news is that he's listed as Questionable, which would suggest he has a 50% chance of playing. While he told Steve Duemig that he was ready to play on Wednesday, his workload so far seems to suggest something different.

If Freeman can't go, expect fourth-year quarterback Josh Johnson to start instead. Interestingly the Bucs currently have no backup quarterback behind Johnson. WR Micheal Spurlock could act as an emergency quarterback, the Bucs are doomed if he starts taking snaps from center. Johnson was terrible in four starts in 2009, but has undoubtedly improved since then. Still, the Bucs are unlikely to see great production from Johnson.

In other dire news, DE Michael Bennett will miss Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. That will be the second game in a row he will miss. That has opened the door for Da'Quan Bowers to get more playing time, which gives him some experience but weakens an already weak run defense. In addition, DT Brian Price is listed as Questionable, although he did participate in practice today - making it more likely he will play on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Panthers have just three players on the injury report: LB Omar Gaither and KR/WR Kealoha Pilares are listed as Questionable, while LB Jason Phillips will not play on Sunday. The Panthers' linebacking corps has been destroyed by injuries this year, and this won't help their already abysmal run defense.

Josh Freeman limited in practice with shoulder injury

NASHVILLE, TN - NOVEMBER 27: William Hayes #95 of the Tennessee Titans tackles Josh Freeman #5 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at LP Field on November 27, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans defeated the Buccaneers 23 to 17. (Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images)

While everyone focused on the thumb cut Freeman suffered five weeks ago and which has long since healed, there was apparently a much more recent injury to worry about. Josh Freeman suffered a right shoulder injury on the final play of the game against the Tennessee Titans, and that injury prevented him from throwing today. While it looks like he will be able to play on Sunday, this injury sure won't help his accuracy.

Speaking of his accuracy, Freeman looked absolutely horrible throwing the football against the Tennessee Titans. I'm pretty sure the weather conditions had something to do with that, but very few of his balls were actually on-target. Most fluttered behind or ahead of receivers. While Freeman has demonstrated the ability to be a very accurate quarterback in the past, he has suffered from intermittent accuracy issues all season.

With none of the receivers playing well and all of them struggling to catch routine balls let alone poorly thrown passes, it's not a good time for Josh Freeman to throw inaccurate passes. And that shoulder injury won't help him get back on track.
