It seems Louis Murphy may have watched a few too many terrible Ben Stiller movies: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver found himself locked in the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, after falling asleep at the wedding of Baltimore Ravens receiver Deonte Thompson. Apparently, none of his friends thought to check on him. Whoops.
All of that according to the Tampa Bay Times.
"This was really just a series of small unfortunate circumstances," Murphy said Wednesday in a statement. "With no one around, my only option was to break a small glass pane of the door in order to access a phone and call for help. I dialed the police and explained that I needed assistance. It's unfortunate that I needed to break the glass, but the police officers on the scene and museum staff acknowledged that I didn't have many other options. I'm working with the museum to ensure everything is properly handled."
It seems he’s working things out with the museum, and the police aren’t too bothered about the whole thing.
Murphy’s currently recovering from a knee injury, and his status on the Bucs’ roster is up in the air as he hasn’t been able to practice so far this offseason. But at least he got to try out some physical exercise to escape from his accidental imprisonment.
