Cecil Shorts had to leave yesterday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers after just one catch, suffering an injury severe enough to require an air-cast.
It’s now been confirmed that Shorts will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury that consisted of him basically tearing every single ligament he had.
As reported Sunday and now confirmed, #Bucs WR Cecil Shorts tore his ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocated his knee.

That is a terrifying injury, one of the most career-threatening ones an NFL player can suffer. It’s hard to see Shorts coming back from that, especially given the fact that he’s been a journeyman receiver who’s struggled to be productive in recent years.
As for the Buccaneers, this has been par for the course for them this season as they’re one of the most injury-riddled teams in the NFL. They’ll likely turn to journeyman Freddie Martino and special teams ace Russell Shepard as his primary replacement, a combination that worked surprisingly well against the San Diego Chargers.
