The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the San Diego Chargers later today, in what will be a crucial in both teams’ playoff bids. And all that means it’s time to predict the game.
The Bucs and Chargers are remarkably similar when viewed over the season as a whole, but they differ in the details. Where the Chargers have consistently had a very productive passing attack and lackluster defense, the Bucs have been remarkably inconsistent on both sides of the ball, with very high highs and very low lows.
Recent games would suggest the Bucs have a small advantage, with the team winning three of the last four via shutdown defensive performances. But then Jameis Winston and company struggled to turn field position into points, and the Chargers have won three of their last five games, too. Plus, they’re at home.
So who will win today? I don’t know, but I’m going with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Just because they’ve won the last three games, their defense is on a roll, and I like being optimistic. Sometimes. A 30-27 win seems pretty realistic.
What is your prediction?
