The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing Tim Jennings, Jason Licht just announced during the Bucs game against the Miami Dolphins. The cornerback visited the Bucs earlier this week after being waived by the Chicago Bears and has been mulling an offer since then, which was apparently attractive enough to entice him to sign.
Jennings hasn't been the player he used to be, though, as he struggled last season and was released after a poor preseason. Still, he's just three years removed from a nine-interception, All-Pro season under Lovie Smith and his familiarity with the system gives him a leg up. He's unlikely to unseat Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks as starting cornerbacks, but he'll probably land ahead of Mike Jenkins, and may get on the field ahead of prosective slot cornerback Sterling Moore, who's struggled a little this preseason.
If nothing else, Jennings adds depth to a shallow Bucs secondary. Depth is so poor that the team had all of the starting defensive backs get significant playing time against the Dolphins, the only starters to do so. Even when the third-string defense was on the field, second-string defensive backs were getting playing time.
