Well, I was surprised as anyone that no one wanted to be the GM of the Buccaneers. I know Mocking the Draft has been doing the mock drafts for a while now so I was excited to join in on the fun. We decided to do it over on the Tennessee Titans page. We have done three rounds today and will finish it up tomorrow. Feel free to rate me on how I did.
For the first round, I decided to go QB. All of them were there and I had my pick of the litter. I was really thinking about Blake Bortles and how he turned UCF Football into a name. I also thought about Mike Evans jumping over everyone and becoming the next Vincent Jackson. But his temper issues at Texas A&M pushed me away. I also flirted with the idea of moving back but many of the GM's were not high on the people left. So, I decided to go with Johnny Manziel. I envisioned him behind McCown for at least this year learning the offense. mechanics, and slowing the football game down. I could see him turning into the next Drew Brees.
For the second round, I traded back from #38 and got #52 and #84 while switching 5th and 6th rounders with the Cardinals. It was a great deal as none of the WR or Guards I expected to be gone were picked by then. At #52, I wanted to trade back again but the guy didn't check his e-mail in time. If I had more time I would've picked Donte Moncrief or Jordan Matthews but I went with Allen Robinson. He is a tall and lanky WR and can be a #2. However, I wasn't comfortable with the pick.
Going into the third round, the guy, Philly, got a hold of me finally and I traded Allen Robinson for #77 and #86 in the 3rd round. It was a much better deal and I found a guy I felt fit the role better. With our original pick, I noticed a guy who was dropping fast and I had to swoop him up. I decided to get David Yankey Guard. He was great value for the pick and I would've been left hanging as Tria Turner was drafted soon later. But since I still had 3 more picks in the 3rd round, I was happy. With #77 I decided to get my WR in Paul Richardson. He's 6'0, skinny, and runs a 4.42. Known for being fast in Ole Miss offense, I was happy to get him. I wanted to trade either #84 or #86 down but no one was interested and a lot of teams left.
At #84 the linebacker I wanted was gone. I rushed the pick and got Shayne Skov ILB. He has the size of a SLB however but is slow per his workouts. But I noticed him on film and he seemed intelligent and knew where he was supposed to be. At #86, I found someone that fell from the 2nd round and was lucky enough that Green Bay traded their pick away. I pick C.J. Fiedorowicz TE. He is a big TE who can run block and catch. At least he would be a good #2 TE.
With the rest of the picks, we have #168, #196, and #221. Any one you can think of in rounds 5-7 that might interest you? Also, How did I do?
