WR Mike Evans Texas A&M. Everyone has been going crazy about how Sammy Watkins is the number one overall WR in this years draft. Evans could easily be a top 10 pick in this years draft and turn out to be a centerpiece for some teams passing offense.
Evans spent the last couple years catching passes from Johnny Football who has been getting all the hype out of Texas A&M. A lot of the credit should be going to Evans on this because of his ability to go up and compete for the ball on every pass. While I am not saying the Evans is better than Watkins but I think that in both players will have long success. I’m reminded of Julio Jones and A.J Green. Both players becoming centerpieces to their respective teams passing attacks.
Watkins more than likely will be gone by the time that the Bucs Pick at Number 7. However unless Johnny Football is gone Tampa should be able to trade back to around pick 9 to 11 and collect at least a 3rd or 4th round draft pick and maybe even a late rounder as well. This could give the Bucs the ability to draft Evans without reaching and collecting some additional picks to help build through the draft.
Even though Tampa has Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams, they are in major need for third receiver. Last year Jackson spent a lot of the snaps lined in the slot to create miss-matches, Jackson also isn’t getting any younger and probably only has a year or two left. Evan could come in and play next to Williams, Jackson to create a lot of separation and depth in the offense.
Williams might or might not be with the team next year, depending on his behavior this year. Jackson, Williams and new Draft Pick (Evans) teamed with Myers and Wright as TE’s and having Crabtree, Myers, and Page as legitimate depth could give Tampa a very dynamic and explosive offense for at least this year.
