In "Licht" of recent events, like players not worth their salary getting cut, I've been looking through contracts to see who will be on the chopping block next year and in 2016. Lovie and co. aka "Li-Lo" look like they have a good grasp of salary management as of this weeks cuts and F/A signings.
#1 Dashon Goldson is one player who really stood out. Has anybody checked out his contract/cap numbers? Next year he's to make 7.5 mil! He very well should be replaced with our first or second round pick next year, or even this year. I saw him as a major liability last year and that money could be better spent elsewhere with more value.
#2 Carl nicks is very much in the air. He could bounce back which would be awesome, but the likelihood is slim. He is due $7 mil, in 2015. So he is a very good candidate for getting cut.
Mike Williams is #3 on my shit list. Unfortunately his 2015, base salary rises to a guaranteed $5.2 mil and his cap figure will be $6.8 mil. In 2016, his base salary is $5.6 million with a $1 million roster bonus and a $600,000 workout bonus, and his cap figure will be $7.2 million. So he will definitely need to be cut in 2016, barring a major breakout and character flaws disappearing.
Aside from those three, everybody else's cap figures look healthy and worth the value as of NOW.
