Establishing the Needs for the 2014 Offseason

With around $10 million in cap space and only 5 draft picks to their name, it will be hard for the Bucs to get all of their needs covered. Before we can start talking who and how much, we need to first define what is actually needed in order to get this team where it needs to be.

Defensive End: Anyone who thinks we can continue to ignore the pass rush is just silly. The Bucs need a elite pass rusher.

Offensive Lineman: A guard or two would be nice, and maybe a tackle. If needed, Zuttah can be bumped to guard to make room for a good center.

Quarterback: Whether or not Mike Glennon is the guy, it would be smart to get another option.

Tight End: I'm happy Timmy Wright decided to show up in the passing game, however a complete tight end is still necessary.

Wide Receiver: The Bucs lack a true slot receiver. Maybe that guy is on the roster or maybe he is out there waiting for the Bucs to pluck him.

Linebacker: This will be a little used position and the Bucs could easily solve this need by resigning either or both of Dekoda Watson and/or Jonathon Casillas.

Punter: Michael Koenen should be on the way out after a poor year and a high salary.

Kick/Punt Returner: The Bucs have a lot of potential returner candidates but none of them can stay healthy or perform to a high enough standard. It may be time to look other places.

Safety, Cornerback, Linebacker, and Defensive Tackle.

Tackle, Guard, and Center.

The corner position could use another reliable option. Getting one corner could be all that is needed. The Bucs could look to use some of the other corners on the current roster to step up as a 4th corner.

At safety, Keith Tandy had a few career saving interceptions last season but still might find it hard to make it out of training camp. A decent backup safety could be a solid addition with the often in trouble Dashon Goldson.

All the offensive line spots could use an improve in their depth.

I think the needs are as follows: QB, DE, TE, G, T, WR, LB, P, CB, DT, and S. What do you think the needs are? Post in the comments below.
