In Mel Kiper's latest mock draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack ahead of quarterback Blake Bortles.
I'm sticking with this pick from the previous mock, as Mack gives the Bucs a much-needed edge rusher with three-down capabilities because of his great leverage against the run and ability to drop into space and both cover and tackle. I expect big things from Mack at the combine. He'll face questions on his competition level, but I'm confident he'll prove he's as good an athlete as almost any defensive player in the draft.
Hey, that's all good. I like Mack. I really, really like Mach, in fact, and I think he'd be a very good fit for the Buccaneers. But I also like Blake Bortles, perhaps more so than Mack and Mike Glennon.
Here's the thing with Bortles: he's a poor man's Andrew Luck, and I've seen comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger, too. They make sense: he's big, has a good arm, is generally accurate (but does need to improve there), and he has the mobility that Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger both have -- Luck more than Roethlisberger, actually.
The Buccaneers may not want Bortles with Mike Glennon in the fold, though. It's not clear whether they like Glennon, and it's certainly not clear how much they'd like Bortles, so most of the speculation now is exactly that: speculation, and little more.
