Well, this season has been a complete disaster. Many here predicted we would make the playoffs after we hired Lovie Smith and signed some nice free agents. But alas, we've been worse than last year. And with that, if I were GM, what would I do in the 2015 offseason?
Cut/Let Go:
DaQuan Bowers
Free Agency:
K.J. Wright- 5 yr/31 million (Would provide a huge upgrade up the middle in the Tampa 2, can tackle, rush the passer, and cover well)
Mike Iupati- 4 yr/26 million (Not a great pass blocker, but a monstrous run blocker that could blast open holes for our runners)
Louis Delmas- 1 yr/5 million (Talented, ball-hawking free safety. Has injury problems, which is why I'm giving him a 1 year "prove it deal." If he gets injured, Bradley McDougald can step right in)
Tony McDaniel- 2 yr/9 million (Likely to be a cap casualty because of Russell Wilson. Would be a huge boost to our run defense, clogging up the middle)
Charles Tillman- 1 yr/3 million (Would start in the slot. He's familiar with Lovie's system, and still plays at a high level)
Draft (3 rounds):
Round 1: QB- Marcus Mariota (Obvious pick, potential face of the franchise, huge upgrade over McCown and Glennon)
Round 2: OT- Cedric Ogbuehi (Look at as a possible top-ten pick before the season began, he's struggled a bit, and has fallen down on draft boards. If we can take him at the top of the second round, I would not pass up the opprotunity)
Round 3: OG- AJ Cann (He could step right in and be a great run blocker up the middle)
