Biggest fish the Bucs need to try and reel in this offseason

If the Bucs can manage to hold onto the 1st overall draft pick, they will most likely and hopefully use it to draft a QB. Unless something durastic happens, the Bucs will likely take Mariota and build their offense around him for the future. If the Bucs want to see him transition nicely from College to the NFL, they need to go after one BIG fish this offseason and that is Oregon Ducks coach Mark Helfrich.

Helfrich has been around Mariota since day 1 and knows him as good as anyone. The Bucs need an OC next season and if they can talk Helfrich into bringing the spread offense to Tampa, it would give Mariota a familiar face and offense to work with. After seeing the impact Chip Kelly has brought with his offense, it show's that the spread offense can dominate in the NFL.

Helfrich wouldn't be out of place in the NFL and could very well be interested in making the jump as he was named by FootballScoop as its National Quarterbacks Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012. He has also set a school record for total offense last season with Oregon (7,345). It will take a bit of work to make him leave but if the Bucs can pull it off, it could very well pay off.
