2014 Bucs Off-Season Plan

Looking at ahead deeper into this off-season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a lot of questions still left to be answered. Who is going to be the GM? How is the rest of Lovie's coaching staff going to fill out? Who will we sign in FA? Who will we draft with the 7th overall pick in May? As of right now the Bucs have about $10 Million in salary cap space available which isn't a lot especially if you are targeting high priced Free Agents I.E: Jimmy Graham, Maurice Jones-Drew, Jarius Byrd, etc. Currently our salary cap number is $116,604,743. Our highest contracts are as follows:

TB Salary

Now looking at this chart above and going by performance from the 2013 season and seeing the salary cap savings if we release certain players cutting a guy like Carl Nicks would not do us justice since we would only save $2.2 Million, but doing a restructure on his contract would do wonders for us. Cutting Donald Penn would save us $7 Million, but then we would need to replace him and the question is how and where meaning the draft or FA? Branden Albert? Jake Matthews? Greg Robinson? Cyrus Kouandjio? Cameron Erving? Cedric Ogbuehi Taylor Lewan?

Team Needs:

O/L, D/L, TE, WR, QB, CB

O/L: Best option to rebuild this is during the draft to mainly replace Nicks at LG since we don't know the full status of his toe. I believe Coach Sparano will maximize Penn and Joseph's abilities so replacing them isn't immediate, but eventually it'll have to be done.

D/L: I think Jared Allen is coming to TB especially with him knowing Leslie Frazier's defense and for him to play for a guy like Lovie Smith plus you know that guy on the D/L the best DT in the league you know that guy. Imagine Allen, Gholston, Clayborn, Bowers rotation

TE: One name Jimmy Graham the biggest question is can the Saints afford to keep him through the franchise tag or through an extension only time will tell

WR: Sammy Watkins can be that guy if Mr. Barr and Mr. Clowney are both off the board. The guy I like is Emmanuel Sanders as a deep threat speed guy who can be a valuable WR2/3 for us. Devin Hester is a huge possibility with Lovie Smith being our HC which wouldn't shock me either.

QB: Aaron Murray could be a later pick for us in about the 4th or 5th round. I'm a supporter of AJ McCarron in the 2nd round, but with our needs I'm going to have to pass on him and get an O/L in Round 2. As for FA QB's I'd look at Mike Vick and Matt Cassel two guys who have starters experience, but now are at best back-up QB's... OH Yeah Tim Tebow

CB: I'm looking strictly at FA Peanut Tillman is the obvious 1st choice through the Lovie Smith connection, Captain Munnerlyn, Tracy Porter, DMC, Aqib Talib, Drayton Florence, and Brent Grimes. All guys we could give 2 to 4 year deals to if we chose and the money can vary between all of these guys some 3 million to 8 million a season.

List Of FA's

Overall I believe the Bucs will make the right player personnel decisions and we'll be a team that goes 10-6 or 11-5 pending who we get during the FA/Draft Period. Lovie and Co. are going to maximize this talent on this team, so after the end of it all we'll know what we truly have here in Tampa Bay since we have a REAL HEAD COACH now
