I think for the most part, there are no "Sell the farm" QB's in this draft, and taking a shot at the 4th best QB with the 7th overall pick is ludicrous. We should just take the best player available with our 1st round pick. We are in a unique spot where if we draft Carr with the 7th, then we reached for someone that's just going to compete with Glennon for the starting job. Also, if Glennon is as smart as they say he is, he already watching game film on Cal, and studying Tedford's playbook. If we even draft a QB in May, Glennon will have almost 4 months of prep and studying done. Unless we sign a QB in free agency that is better then Glennon, then we better get used to the idea that Glennon will be starting in 2014, unless he has some kind of Freeman breakdown.
This is why I don't think we should use our 7th overall on a QB, because we would be getting the 4th best player t a position we need, when we could get the best player available at one of our other positions of need. Of course this is all assuming the Texans, Browns, Jaguars, and Raiders don't take 3 QBs. In the later rounds we could take Garoppolo, AJ Mccarron, Taj Boyd, Brett Smith, or Aaron Murray. I would be happy if we took Garoppolo in the 2nd round, or waited to the 4th or 5th and take Brett Smith. I know Lovie said that they wanted athletes at every position, and Brett Smith in my eyes is the most athletic. I don't know if anyone has watched film on him yet, but he is a more refined, bigger version of Johnny Manzeil.
P.S. sorry if I seemed a little all over the place.
