The NFC toilet Bowl games were played now its time for the AFC. Fist off this week we had the lowly Texans with new coach Bill O'Brien, facing off against the Browns, yuck. Later we have the Oakland Raiders against the Jacksonville Jags.
Cleveland Vs Houston. To start off the week we have the Houston Texans looking to end their losing streak against the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland. Cleveland was promising but after Hoyer got hurt they went down fast. Look for breakout games from Gordon, and Johnson two of the best receivers in the league! Early in the first quarter teams trade three and outs. Late in the first Jason Campell hooks up with Willis McGahee on a screen for twenty eight yards. Then on the first play of the second quarter Josh Gordon catches a screen then jukes a few defenders to walk into the endzone 7-0 Browns. After Case Keenum is picked off we see the Browns driving. The drive is stalled by a botched snap sack but they are still in field goal range. Cundiff lines up for a thirty-six yarder and shanks it wide left. We do remember nothing comes easy as the game time weather is 10 degrees with snowshowers and 30mph wind. Next on a promising Texans drive Keenum over shoots Johnson deep on third down. A rook in the playoffs can be tough. On the ensuing Browns drive Cleveland finds themselves in the redzone as a result of a deep pass interference call with a facemask tacked on just awful play by the Texans. With twenty seconds left in the half Campell hooks up with Brian Tyms for a five yard strike. 14-0 Browns at the Half. The third quarter featured a handfull of three and outs and a Jason Campell interception in the endzone. Picking up in the fourth quarter three and outs are everywhere as Cleveland is trying to get their running game started and Houston, well they're Houston.. But with three minutes left Keenum is finally throwing accurately as the wind has died, on fourth down he shoots it deep and.... touchdown Andre Johnson!! but the extra point is blocked.. truly anything can happen here in the toilet bowl. 14-6 Cleveland. The Texans kick the onside kick but it doesn't travel ten yards, evidently the game is over. 14-6 Cleveland Final. Player of the Game Jason Campell 16 for 28 for 205 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick.
Oakland @ Jacksonville. Probably the most interesting teams in the bracket, Jacksonville showing promise with a mediocre team, while Oakland well they suck. Picking up early on McFadden breaks a thirty-four yard run but is chased down in the redzone. After a few penalties stall the drive Janikowski hits a forty-nine yarder to make the score 3-0 Oakland. After a miserable Jacksonville drive plagued by dropped passes we find Oakland driving again, Pyror takes off for a run and makes the marker for a first down. Again the drive stalls in the redzone as Janikowski hits a twenty-eight yard field goal to end the first quarter 6-0 Oakland. Early in the second quarter on the next Jacksonville drive Henne is picked off on his own fifteen yard line. Next thing you know Pyror scampers in for a fifteen yard touchdown. 13-0 Oakland. Jacksonville's drive looks promising until they stall at midfield another punt. On the next drive Pyror is picked off by Trey WIlson in the redzone! With under a minute left Henne throws on fourth and goal....Touchdown Cecil Shorts. At the half its 13-7 Oakland. The third quarter featured sputtering offenses, Oakland put together one decent drive to solidify their lead as Janikowski hits a thirty-eight yarder to make it 16-7 Oakland. Early in the fourth Janikowski hits another to make it 19-7 Oakland, but its still early. After a pair of three and outs Jacksonville elects to go for it on fourth and one on their own twenty four yard line! Crazy. Henne drops back throws....batted down incomplete turnover on downs. Oakland turns around and scores on one play as McFadden picks his way to the endzone 26-7 with only four minutes left. On the next drive Jacksonville finally gets something going but it seems too late. Henne hits Shorts again on fourth for a touchdown making the score 26-14. After Oakland recovered the onside kick this one is basically over, Janikowski pooches one through to make the score 29-14 final. Player of the game Cecil Shorts with 4 catches for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns.
